On June 21, 2018, Broward County completed the installation of eight mooring buoys offshore of Deerfield Beach. The Broward County mooring buoys were installed as a joint project by the Natural Resources Planning and Management Division, Ocean Watch Foundation, Florida Boating Improvement Program, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
This project is designed to lessen the harmful effects of anchor damage on our coral reef resources. It also encourages safe and maintained moorings to the boating public that visit our offshore reefs.
For coordinates of these mooring buoys, please contact the City’s Coastal & Waterway Coordinator, Patrick Bardes, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
