Pier Entrance Redesign
It may be possible to make access available at all times, but that has yet to be determined. Cost-feasible arrangements will be made to minimize closures of the Pier during construction. |
The new restaurant operator at the pier took over knowing that his operation would be temporary. The new facilities will include a new and improved, but very similar, restaurant . The City will have the option to allow the current operator to return or to select a new operator for the restaurant once the new buildings are finished. |
It may be possible to keep all of the parking available during the construction, but that has yet to be determined. With public safety being the first priority, cost-feasible arrangements will be made to minimize the reduction of parking during construction. The permanent arrangements for drop-off and parking will be determined during the design process underway in early 2010. |

The Mayor and City Commissioners, in their capacity as the Board of Directors of the Deerfield Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), earmarked $3.5 million for the project in the CRA’s FY 2010 budget. The funding comes to the CRA from various taxing entities, including Broward County, and may be used only to pay for implementation of the district’s redevelopment plan. |
The structural supports will be repaired at the same time as the buildings are replaced. |
The heavy part of construction will need to occur in the winter months, after turtle nesting season is over. If the project stays on track construction will be underway in November of 2010. |
